1 June 07
Dear Christian
Friends,
Greetings to
you once again in
the name of the
Lord. We pray this
letter finds all of
you well. We are
transitioning into
winter here and have
had temperatures
down to 34 degrees
at night. We are
hoping for a cold
winter this year.
After being home in
the USA last year we
missed winter both
here in Australia
and in the States,
so this year we are
liking the cool
weather. Of course,
here it doesn’t get
nearly as cold as it
does back there, but
we do enjoy a much
cooler winter than
other parts of
Australia.
All continues
to go well here, I
just returned from
my monthly trip to
Adelaide. We had
done a round of
advertising there
just before I went
down and I was
hoping that we might
have some visitors,
but we didn’t this
time. We did have
one e-mail from
someone down there,
but they did not
show up at the
church. I wish I had
more time to be in
Adelaide as I think
good strong
preaching would
stabilize that
church quickly and
make it more known
in the area. Right
now I am having to
deal with doctrinal
difference and
misunderstandings by
e-mail and often
times this doesn’t
work because written
words don’t always
accurately convey
the earnestness and
emotion meant with
the use of those
words. Yet the Lord
has blessed and I
was told this last
Sunday that some
friends of the ones
we have coming are
interested in the
church and may come
next time. Please
pray for this work,
there is not a
Sovereign Grace,
Landmark church in
the whole state of
South Australia and
I pray that this one
may grow and be
established
according to the
Lord’s will.
During this
month I am looking
forward to a
fellowship meeting
with a church up the
road pastored by
Bro. Israel Marquez.
Bro. Marquez has a
mainly Philipino
church and is the
only other church in
this whole country
that believes the
doctrines of Grace
and local church
only position. I
will be preaching
there on Sunday
evening on June the
10th. I am expecting
that our whole
church here will
attend and we are
looking forward to a
rare time of
fellowship. We are
hoping that this
will just be the
first of many times
we can get together
and enjoy the mutual
belief of the
precious doctrines
of God’s marvelous
grace.
Our church in
Cobbitty remains
strong, although we
have not had as good
attendance this last
month as I would
have liked to see.
Some sicknesses and
some holiday making
have caused our
numbers to be a
little low, but we
are thankful that
this has been the
exception and not
the rule of our
church attendance
over the years. I am
also thankful for
the men of this
church who have been
stepping up to cover
the services while I
am away in Adelaide
once a month. Our
youngest male
member, Dennis
Madeira, has been
leading the singing
and one of our most
faithful men, David
Jackson, has been
doing devotions on
the Sundays I am
away. I’m thankful
for these men and
their work in the
church, when you
have members like
the ones we have
here in Cobbitty it
makes pastoring a
church a great joy
and blessing.
I have spent a
good deal of time
this month looking
into a part time
job. I have not yet
attained one, but I
did go and take a
driving course that
allows me to drive
delivery type trucks
around the area as
well as buses. I
have done this kind
of work before and I
have applied for
several positions. I
have a couple
interviews coming up
this week or next
and if the Lord
wills I may have a
job soon. The dollar
situation has not
eased much although
it is down to .8195,
however for it to
make a difference in
our finances it will
have to go way down
and the financial
forecast is not
calling for that to
happen any time
soon. We are
thankful for the
encouragement we
have received from
some churches and
the extra offerings
that have come in.
We are not seeking
more money from the
States, but we do
appreciate the
concern for us that
many have shown both
in their prayers for
us and their
support. Until next
time.
By His Grace
Alone,
Bro. Jeff,
